The start-up of construction works for the Palmerola airport in Comayagua, Honduras, implies great opportunities for employment and development.
Its construction is carried out by the company “Inversiones EMCO” and with the machinery contracted by the airport operator the Munich Airport, began the cleaning of the land where the new air terminal will be built. The new terminal will replace the international operations of the airport of Toncontin, currently located in Tegucigalpa.
The air terminal will have an area of 21 thousand square meters, 4 embarkation sleeves, 16 thousand checkpoints of passengers, VIP rooms and three bands for the delivery of luggage. The project will allow the country to become a logistic´s center of the Americas and of transportation of the Central American region. It will have a runway of 2,440 meters, capable of operating commercial aircraft of narrow cabin without restrictions and wide cabin with low restrictions to long-range destination. The Airport is expected to be completed in 2018.
