Guatemala and the antirust law

The Institute of Commercial Law, dedicated to the study of Business Law, through its President Ricardo Sagastume announced that the LATIN AMERICAN CONGRESS ON COMPETITION LAW  will be held next October 28 and 29 in the Hotel Real Intercontinental in Guatemala.  ‘The free competition promotes development and the event looks for the attendance of lawyers and notaries, academics, entrepreneurs, economists, business managers, sociologists, public sector made up of legislators, judges, magistrates, ministers of state, as well as all professionals, students and the general public interested in learning firsthand news about this topic.

The signature of the Association Agreement between the European Union (EU) and Central America has engaged Guatemala to adopt a competition law no later than November 30, 2016.

The Latin American Congress on Competition Law has 3 specific objectives:

Provide participants with basic knowledge on antitrust, competition policy and competition law;
Encourage open and public discussion on the design and implementation of a policy and antitrust law.
Enrich the discussion with the experience of other Latin American countries, adopting best practices in these countries according to our national reality (cultural, economic, legal and political)
Meet the Central American integration process, in the context of competition and progress in the adoption of regional regulations competence and experience of European competition at the regional level.
Generate interest in participating in the discipline of competition law as a branch closely related to commercial law.
